This immersive intensive introduces participants to the art and craft of puppetry, exploring a wide range of styles and techniques. The class begins with the fundamentals of object animation, learning how to breathe life into inanimate objects, discover their movement, and bring them alive as an ensemble. Over the course, participants will: Experiment with hands as puppets, before moving into shadow play with hands and shadow puppets. Explore traditional and contemporary forms, including Bunraku-style puppets, marionettes, and large-scale creations. Learn to work with hand-and-rod puppets while also diving into TV puppetry techniques using a monitor. Collaborate in groups to create characters and tell stories through movement, rhythm, and play No prior puppetry experience is required, and participants are welcome to bring their own puppets to experiment with. Cancellation Policy
If notice of cancellation is given with 14 days or more, a refund will be issued minus a $30 administration fee. If notice of cancellation is given with less than 14 days, a credit will be issued that is valid for one year. Transfers between camps: May be accommodated based on availability.
