Multi level instruction continues to be a parallel activity to creation for Green Fools Theatre. Our workshops and training programs have toured from Africa to Nunavut and have been endorsed by Cirque du Soleil.  Artists who have trained and worked with Green Fools are engaged with major Canadian Theatres, including award winning actor Jamie Konchak as well as Shannon Calcutt and Jessica Bererra of Cirque du Soliel; others have created their own companies including The Calgary Animated Objects Society and The Old Trout Puppet Workshop.

Our Physical Theatre Intensive course offers a 20 hour intensive workshop for adults. Participants will learn and explore the Masked Body and The Physical Character. Using neutral mask, Balinese masks, full and half face character masks, the Masked Body will be developed as a performance tool. Physical Character will be created through movement engaging corporeal mime, slapstick, clown, and the darker side of clown – bouffon. We will also include lessons in circus skills including stilt walking, juggling, unicycle, and tight wire. Each class will begin with physical warm ups and interactive team building techniques. We will finish the week with a final presentation for friends, family and the general public. All skill levels accepted, dress to move. This course is ideal for students, performers, or anyone interested in exploring alternative acting techniques and adding physical training to their performance repertoire. Perfect for the ambitious, the talented, and the fearless!

Green Fools has spent over two decades creating physical theatre works exploring the arts of masks, puppetry, stilt walking and circus skills. Throughout our active practice, we have developed  our own techniques while engaging traditional methodology. Our productions have garnered Betty Mitchell and Elizabeth Sterling Haynes awards and have toured internationally.
